| AN INTRODUCTION TO LIMOGES BOXES |
 |
Limoges is a city in central France. By the 13th century Limoges was
famous for its enamel industry. In the late 1700's Limoges became France's major
manufacturer of china (porcelain). Pierre Auguste Renoir, the French impressionist
painter, was born in Limoges. His first job was painting on porcelain.
On this web site we are offering a large selection of Limoges boxes.
Almost all of the boxes that we sell are hand painted. We make every effort of select the
best boxes that are available. These boxes are ideal as gifts for wedding, anniversaries,
birthday, or other special occasions.
Thirty year from now the computer that you are now using will
probably have been scrapped. The Limoges box that you buy today will, with luck, be
someone's cherished possession three hundred years from now.
We hope that you will enjoy looking at Limoges boxes on this site.
Please note that the boxes are shown approximately actual size when
viewed on a 15" monitor. The colors will not be true, when viewed on a computer
monitor, but are hopefully close. The correct viewing distance is at least 36" from
your monitor
